WiserOwl Named “Top Runner Up” in the Prestigious USAA 100 Year Anniversary Pitch Competition

Earlier this year, WiserOwl entered the Chicago leg of the USAA 100 Year Anniversary Pitch Competition.

From the contest microsite:

In 1922, a group of soldiers founded USAA by joining together and insuring each other’s vehicles when no one else would. After 100 years, their founders’ innovative spirit continues to be a driving force.

This is why USAA is celebrating its 100th anniversary by looking for the next generation of entrepreneurs who can carry the spirit of service-minded innovation into the next century.

Up to 36 startups will compete in regional pitch contests of five to six businesses held in 2022, culminating in a finals event in San Antonio in November. The winner from each regional event will be invited to pitch at the finals alongside four wildcard invitations selected from the regionals.

The $100,000 grand prize would go right back into our platform to help our continuing mission to aid clients to upgrade their Contact Centers and recoup some of the $4.7 trillion annual loss of revenue that results from poor customer service

More About USAA

The United Services Automobile Association—better known to most ads USAA—is a San Antonio-based Fortune 500 diversified financial services group offering banking, investing, and insurance to people and families who serve, or served, in the United States Armed Forces. At the end of 2020, it had more than 13 million members.

As explained on the contest microsite, USAA was founded by a group of U.S. Army officers as a mechanism for mutual self-insurance when they were unable to secure auto insurance because of the perception that they, as military officers, were a high-risk group. USAA has since expanded to offer banking and insurance services to past and present members of the Armed Forces, officers and enlisted, and their families.

The company ranked No. 100 in the 2018 Fortune 500 list of the largest United States corporations by total revenue.
